2016 Spring Conference

The New Mexico Fire Marshal's Association and the Southern New Mexico Building Officials Annual Conference in Ruidoso NM; at the MCM Elegente  (Formerly The Lodge at Sierra Blanca) & Ruidoso Convention Center

April 11-12, 2016

We will be hosting a round table discussion with the New Mexico State Fire Marshal's Office to discuss requirements of Mobile Food Vendors in relation to the fire code and commercial kitchen hood suppression systems.

Membership Dues 

The Board of Directors has approved the re-instatement of the membership dues that were suspended. They also approved an increase of the annual membership dues from $25.00 to $35.00 a year/person. The Board is looking at several new benefits for members in good standing. Invoices will be sent out in January and will be good for the 2016 calendar year. Bernalillo County Begins Search for New Fire and Rescue Chief
Bernalillo County – The search has begun for a new county fire and rescue chief.
“The job description is now posted on our website and we are beginning an extensive search for a new fire chief,” says County Manager Tom Zdunek. “The citizens of Bernalillo County and the fine men and women of the Bernalillo County Fire Department deserve nothing less than our best effort.”
The position is being advertised and listed at many locations including, Linkedin, the International Association of Firefighters, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the National Association of Counties, and the New Mexico Association of Counties.

Interviews will be conducted by County Manager Tom Zdunek and an interview panel that will include professionals from the fire and rescue fields.
The new fire chief will supervise the overall operations of the Bernalillo County Fire Department with a command staff that includes:
deputy chief of operations/support, division chief of logistics, division chief of fire prevention (fire marshal), division chief of emergency medical services (EMS), division chief of training and division chief of staffing/communications.
There are currently 255 uniformed officers, engineers, paramedics and firefighters employed by the fire department.
